July 1st is release day for Shawn Maravel's second book in the Rider Series, Shifting Gears .  Shawn was born in a small New Jersey town located between somewhere and nowhere. She fled the country looking for adventure while following her heart and the love of a soldier. Shawn began writing when her husband joined the Army in 2008. It started out as a way for her to cope with the long periods of time that they spent apart but slowly took on a life of its own, becoming something she did for herself. Please welcome author Shawn K Maravel to my blog! Shawn is a military wife with a hero for a husband, and those qualities especially come through in her latest release, The Wanderer . Shawn is known for creating characters readers can connect with, and romance that will melt your heart. I asked Shawn to share a little about her writing journey. What's your writing background and goals? My writing background is set on a foundation of my love of storytelling. From a young age I enjoyed writing stories. When I started reading regularly in 2008 I also started writing seriously but it wasn't until my husband deployed to Iraq in late 2009 that I took my writing to a career level. My first novels Volition and Severance, a young adult paranormal series, are my first publications. Less than a year later I wrote and published The Wanderer. For the future I see myself sticking with literary fiction works such as The Wanderer. I enjoy writing paranormal stories but...

Shawn lives with her husband in Germany where he's stationed in the Army. She's the author of two books, Volition and Severance , which I have on my TBR list (and in my Kindle). Can't wait! Shawn, tell me a bit about your writing bio: (when you started, fav genres/authors) I started writing when I was young. I once wrote a story about a family going on a trip…the brother, after being attacked (I forget why) resorted to using his Bop-It as a weapon of self-defense. I actually really enjoyed writing that story…but I remember that the word “plunged” was used A LOT. Anyway…I started to write seriously about three years ago when my husband enlisted in the Army and even more seriously when he deployed in 2009 for a year to Iraq. My favorite genres are Young Adult, Literary Fiction, and Romance Novels (as sort of a guilty pleasure).
