It's Zombie Celebration Day!

Image
In honor of the release of World War Z , I'm participating in an act of shameless promotion. My book series Apocalypse Babes starts off with a little zombie action--though my zombies aren't quite that fast AND are more partial to disco than worldwide destruction.  Instead of the stylish scarf Brad Pitt sports, my main character Seffy has an unnatural affinity for her pink Juicy Couture velour tracksuit. So yeah, not a lot of similarities, but, hey, zombies! No mad skillz, no sacred destiny, just a pink tracksuit that will take her places she never wanted to go... It's been said that a sure sign of the coming apocalypse is an 80s roller skate disco movie coming to DVD (with special features). In the science-fiction novel series Apocalypse Babes, a stylish group of twenty-something friends are torn from the Babylonian arms of 2006 West Hollywood and flung nearly thirty years into the past. It might be because one of them purchased the taboo film in a nos...

Since the 12/21/12 apocalypse is nigh, you might as well go out in style, right? And who knows, just maybe the Juicy Couture pink velour tracksuit will send you to an alternate universe, thereby giving you a way of escape from impending doom. A time-traveling Juicy suit?? What the heck? This might make a little sense if you've read Apocalypse Babes: The Complete Series . If you haven't, fie for shame! Six full length books available in a set for less than $5? Maybe such a deal is what's really bringing on the apocalypse. If you want to just take a peek at the story, the first book is free for a limited time. Speaking of limited, this is the last year the Juicy suit will be part of the Apocalypse Babes promotion. And you know how bad you want one of these! Check out last year's winner !  And while you're reading the series, imagine yourself in Seffy's shoes...er, her tracksuit. And trust me, you're going to need the soft, pink comfort of high end ...

Young Adult Mythology Hop and Persephone's Trouble

Image
Mythology is such a fascinating subject, because myths--extremely similar myths--persist in the histories of all culture worldwide. Does this point to a common beginning? Shared stories (before social media??)? Or common themes of the human condition? Whatever the reason, mythology never gets old and continues to reveal the depths, motives, and secrets of the human heart. One of the most compelling myths is the story of Persephone . Some have called her story 'the rape of Persephone'. Rape most likely is better translated as 'abduction', but ultimately what's at stake is the loss of innocence. A young maiden picking flowers in a field wanders away from her mother (Demeter). The earth suddenly opens and Hades emerges from below and abducts her, forcing her into marriage. Demeter's grief--which causes crop failure and starvation--make s Hades release Persephone for a few months a year so the earth can recover and mankind can surv...

Is This A Kissing Book? Romancing The Blog Hop

Image
One of my favorite scenes from Princess Bride was when Fred Savage asked his grandpa (Peter Faulk) "Is this a kissing book?" And he was really, really hoping the answer was no .  And yet what was missing for little Fred when the book ended? Yep. That kiss. And according the S. Morgenstern, “Since the invention of the kiss, there have only been five kisses that were rated the most passionate, the most pure. This one left them all behind.” For me, this is why I read romance novels. I probably wouldn't read it if it wasn't a kissing book. Heck, if my High School text books had some kissing in 'em, I would've gotten better grades!  My favorite screen kiss is from the film Never Been Kissed . They had to get it right, and oh, baby, did they. I still get chills when I watch it. Mmmm mmmm. Kissing is so meaningful because it's the moment when guards are lowered and a tentative test is made--a test with sensitive body parts--the lips.  ...

Book #4 of my series Apocalypse Babes is now available for Kindle (other vendors coming shortly). When a mysterious faction at the Fugere compound resorts to extreme measures for crowd control, problems intensify, threatening not only life and limb, but the already fragile estate between the Apocalypse Babes and the Others--especially as things heat up between Seffy and Trent . So yeah, things are still wonky in Montana. But that's part of the fun, right? And don't forget to enter my contest . It ends October 6th and you know you want that Juicy Couture tracksuit!

Help Spread The Z Word!

Image
My contest to promote my new release, The Z Word , is live! The best part, is no cost is involved. It's free, baby, free--at least on Smashwords ( Amazon is charging 99 cents, so a heads up there). The Z Word is the first book in the Apocalypse Babes series. It might be because one of them purchased the taboo film in a nostalgic moment, setting off a chain of events more disturbing than a roller skating conga line. They wake up in an apocalyptic but strangely familiar landscape, complete with a hidden mountain compound and retro survivalists, hinting at hidden and retro secrets they must face if they want to survive. Book One follows...

New cover!

Image
A just got my cover for my new book, arriving next month, called The Z Word . It's book one of a series called Apocalypse Babes . Woot! The Z Word follows Seffy Carter and her longtime friends Gareth, Addison and Lani. The four besties share a past dysfunctional and dark enough to keep them bound together under do-over identities. But rends develop in their relationships from the flesh-eating pressures of ending up in 1980, in a Montana desert, surrounded by zombies wearing dated disco duds. The Z Word is a mix of light and dark, truth and lies, and life and death. Check the Apocalypse Babes site on 7/6/2001 for a fun contest celebrating the book's release. Think Juicy Couture, Victoria's Secret and Amazon, and the best word of all, 'free'!
